Australia is going to tour Pakistan after 23 years

Finally, after a long 23 years, the Australian team is going to tour Pakistan. The two teams will play 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 1 T20 match in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.

Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the final schedule of the tour on Friday. Australia is visiting Pakistan for the first time since 1998.

Earlier in the year, New Zealand and England postponed tours due to security concerns. However, the English later agreed to play 7 T20s and 3 Tests in 2022. And after about 5 months, Australia agreed.

No international cricket team has toured Pakistan for six long years due to the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009. As a result, the PCB was forced to make the UAE it’s home venue.

However, international cricket started returning to Pakistan in 2015. After 12 long years, Pakistan hosted a Test series on home soil. Sri Lanka goes to play that series in 2019. Besides, teams like West Indies, Bangladesh, and South Africa have also played series there. But five months ago, the New Zealand team went on tour but returned before the start of the match.

Last October, England also announced the cancellation of the Pakistan tour. Due to this, there was uncertainty surrounding Australia’s visit. This time it was also cut. England will also tour Pakistan next September to play 7 Twenty20 matches. After the next T20 World Cup, the English will return to Pakistan to play a three-match Test series.
