Younis, Gul appointed consultants for Afghanistan tour of UAE

Afghanistan Cricket Board on Saturday (April 2) announced former Pakistan middle-order batter Younis Khan and right-arm fast bowler Umar Gul as their batting and bowling consultants for the UAE tour.

Younis and Gul are expected to join the team during the ongoing training and preparatory camp in the UAE as the team gears up for its forthcoming international cricketing assignments.

“The UAE camp is a great opportunity for the players to get adequate training in the relevant departments of the game and get fully prepared for the future competitions. Younis Khan and Umar Gul have rich experience of international cricket and I am sure they will help our boys overcome the concerns they have got in the batting and bowling departments” ACB CEO Naseeb Khan said in a statement.

Afghanistan national cricket team left Kabul for the UAE on March 31 with the aim of gaining UAE residency as well as featuring in a preparatory camp to gear up for the upcoming international events.

ACB earlier named former England batter Graham Thorpe as their head coach and the Englishman is expected to join the team at the end of April.
